NEW PRODUCTION AT WERRIBEE PARK MANSION – ‘Shepherd Kings’
Alaine is currently working on a new script 'Shepherd Kings' which centres around the three Chirnside characters Thomas, Andrew and Mary and the son Andrew Spence (or A.S. as he was known). This play is a drama and will have its first performance in 2016 in the hallway of the Werribee Park Mansion with the grand staircase as the backdrop. To try to get to know these characters and tell an interpretation of their story, Alaine has been researching archives for the past two years looking at many letters, diary entries, newspaper articles and regular visits to the State Library. The Chirnside family reflects not just Wyndham history but the pastoral history of Australia as a colony becoming an independent nation.
This play is a drama 'Downton Abbey' style and completely different to the current shows performed at Werribee Park. It will be performed on a stage set up at the base of the staircase with the audience sitting in the main hallway. The show will end with a performance from Dame Nellie Melba, local opera singer Donna King. Stay tuned .....

Written by Alaine Beek with support and input from the Werribee Secondary College's male actors in their Drama Club, is now being expanded to a stronger and more in-depth exciting production. The aim will be to have this production performed professionally in 2016.
